This pack consists of two ELA Centers to help your students understand the Common Core Standard of ELA RL.2.1. This Standard involves students asking and answering questions to understand key details in texts. (I am in the process of revising the ELA Centers I use in my classroom and will continue to post them. They will follow the same general format for the Center Display cards and pictures of Journal/paper expectations.)
The Centers are “Identify Question Types” and “Asking Questions”. Here are the pages that are included:
• Center Display pages with Student Directions. There are multiple page options for you to print out. “Identify Question Types” has 2 choices- (both need the book The Art Lesson by Tomie dePaola) 1. Students use the reproducible paper to record their answers and 2. Students write their answers on a paper or in a Journal, which saves on making copies. “Asking Questions” has 4 choices- 1 & 2 include the use of the book I Wanna Iguana with an option to use the student reproducible paper or a paper or Journal. 3 & 4 can be used with any book and include the options of using the reproducible or a paper or Journal.
• Pages to show the students what they should write on their paper or in their Journals to organize the Center information. (These pages include real photos of a notebook paper and headings.)
• Center cards for each activity. (4 Header cards and 16 cards for the first Center and 6 cards for the second Center)
Please look through the pages before you print this packet. You may want to choose which Center Display pages you want to use and not print them all.
