Description

The activities in this digital week of learning are created to incorporate reading and writing into the Science curriculum. This set is designed to be used in the classroom or for at home learning. The activities are simple enough for students to complete independently or with a little assistance as needed. In place of the lab, a Science in the Real World Scavenger Hunt that guides students through exploring the concept in the world around them. This is engaging and memorable, and does not require any supplies.

This week of learning comes in 3 versions to best fit your digital learning platform: PowerPoint, Google Slides, JPG images (which can work well in apps or for inserting as backgrounds in your own slides creation).

Students will follow the assignment guide to know which slides to complete each day.

Day one: Pre-learning activities to activate and/or build schema (Think and Share, Solve it)

Day two: Literacy/ Teacher input with informational text and graphic organizer (Read about it, Write about it)

Day three: Anchor chart and interactive notebook type activities (Learn about it, try it)

Day four: Exploring the concept in the real world around them with a scavenger hunt PLUS a critical thinking activity to apply what they are learning to answer a question (Explore it, Think about it)

Day five: Vocabulary and Critical Thinking Writing > which makes a great formative assessment for the week (Define it, Show what you know)

The Complete Lesson Set has more activities and works well for a full in-person teach.
