This game is aligned to the common core standards. It targets frequently occurring Tier 2 vocabulary words. This game can be used for small group instruction, literacy centers, and speech therapy. This game includes three game boards that target synonyms, antonyms, homonyms and homophones.
HOW TO PLAY:
Print out the page that has the category labels and the point values (page 3). Put this page in a page protector and use a dry erase marker to mark off the squares as they are used. The teacher/therapist will choose one of the three included game boards. The first player will then choose a category and point value. The teacher/therapist holds the paper with the questions on it and asks the player to name a synonym, antonym, or two definitions for the word that corresponds to the category they have chosen. If the student answers the question correctly they receive the points. If they answer incorrectly, the other players have the chance to steal and earn the points. The game ends when all squares have been marked. The player with the most points at the end of the game is the winner.
