Scoot is a great fun paced way to review. This scoot is aligned to CCSS.Math.Content.2.OA.A.1 Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
Place the task cards around the room. (Use as few or as many as you need. The packet includes 30 task cards) I tend to spread them out in a circle pattern around the room. Some teachers just place them on all the desks. Make sure that each student gets a 2-sided answer recording sheet and a pencil. Then tell each student where they will start and explain the rotation pattern. Give students 30 seconds to 2 minutes to figure out the answer to the question. The amount of time can be changed depending on the speed and ability of your students. Then when you are ready to have them go to the next card, yell either “Scoot” or “Switch.”When students are finished with all the cards you can either collect their answer sheets or go over the answers as a whole group.
