Teaching math in a low incidence special education classroom can be so tricky! However I challenge you go to beyond patterns and counting and expose your students to a modified version of the Common Core State Standards. This Unit is the Second unit of a year long curriculum, Division.
Unit 1 was multiplication and can be purchased in my TPT store.
The students will get the opportunity to learn division skills at three different levels.
Skills included (OA stands for Ohio Academic- The Ohio Extended Standards is aligned to the Common Core State Standards just broken down into three levels! It is amazing and I urge you to look them up via google to learn more about modifying curriculum based on CCSS).
3.OA.2c:Represent quotients for whole number factors of 1s, 2s, and 5s using arrays, area models, or physical representations, not exceeding 10.
3.OA.3a:Represent word problems with quotientsof whole numbers using arrays, area models, or other physical representation with while numbers of 1s,2s,3s,4s, and 5s. 3.OA.6c: I can show division as sortingobjects or pictures into equal groups.
3.OA.4c:I can match a provided physical or visual modelof three provided division sentences.
3.OA.7a: Fluentlyknow all products of while numbers 0-5 and their representative division problems
3.OA.2b:Represent quotients usingarrays for whole number factors of 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, and 10s, not exceeding 10
3.OA.3a:Represent word problems with quotientsof whole numbers using arrays, area models, or other physical representation with while numbers of 1-10
3.OA.6b: Understand that division is the inverse operation of multiplication by sorting objects or pictures into equal groups and matching multiplication and division sentences.
3.OA.7b: Represent a division sentence when given a physical or visual model of while number 1-10
3.OA.4b: Identify the unknown whole number when given a visual representation when given a choiceof three answer choices.
3.OA.3a:Determine the operation and correctly solve the problem using multiplication and division
3.OA.3a:Represent word problems with quotientsof whole numbers using arrays, area models, or other physical representation with while numbers of 1-100.
3.OA.6a: Understand division as the inverse operation of multiplication.
3.OA.7: Fluently dividewithin 100 using strategies such as relationship between multiplication and division.
3.OA.1a: Solvefor the unknown product or quotient within whole numbers.
Each Level comes with a workbook with hands on activities, writing, cutting, sorting, etc interactive task box centers, a pre/post test, and data sheet to track progress on the above standards. Everything is black and white print and go with the exception of the centers which are in color and meant to be laminated for reuse.
