Looking for a fun and engaging way to start the school year with a new class? These worksheet-based activities can help. With three activities based on getting to know students, helping them to reflect on last year and interact with each other, this product will help you break the ice and start the year well!

CONTENTS

Activity One – Getting to Know You Worksheet: This one-page handout requires students to answer questions about themselves. Some questions are quirky and fun (If you were an animal what would you be and why?) and others a little deeper (“If you were not afraid of what people think, what would you do?”). Students complete the worksheet individually and the pages can be kept as covers for student files.

Activity Two – Reflecting On Last Year: This one-page handout requires students to reflect on the past school year with questions such as: ‘If the last year of your life were a movie, what would be the title?’ and the deeper, ‘Did you help a classmate last year?’ This worksheet activity can lead into writing reflective essays or reviews.

Activity Three – Peer Interviews: This three-page resource requires students to pair up and interview each other, making notes on their peer’s answers and filling in forms. The questions are intended to help students get to know each other better. To really make this a fun activity, print the forms and put them into ‘official’ style folders with paperclips and pins. Students love this – they say it feels like they are compiling official ‘top secret’ documents. See thumbnails for an example.

PLEASE NOTE: This product contains the worksheets (6 pages) for the three activities, with descriptions and ideas for use and extension, but it DOES NOT contain step-by-step lesson plans.
