Product Description
Three great argumentative text sets in one great discounted bundle! With an emphasis on preparing students for state testing and performance tasks that have become a norm in formats such as AIR and PARCC, all three of these argumentative text sets provide multiple sources (3 or 4 each) with a task formatted to be much like what your students will see on their real state assessments! Descriptions from each individual item that makes up the set are provided below:

Argumentative Text Set - Does Homework Help You Learn?

This four-passage text set is accompanied by an argumentative prompt regarding the topic of the relationship between homework and student learning. It's a perfect assignment to engage students, as most students will have a personal opinion going into the assignment. On that note, it will also strengthen your students experience with the idea of using the text to support their writing, rather than their own personal experiences.

Modeled after AIR Testing, which is used in numerous states across the country, it would also fit well into a PARCC simulation. The text set, itself, is 5 pages long.

As with all products sold by A Teacher's Teacher, I take great pride in providing materials in multiple forms. In the case of this item, you will receive the text set and prompt in a ready-to-use format for easy accessibility (.pdf) as well as a file that you can open and edit, to best fit for your own classroom needs (.docx). In addition, I have also provided the option to use a quick-sharing link for Google Docs, in case you use the Google Suite of Apps. All you'll have to do is open the Word or PDF file labeled for Google Docs, copy the link provided, and paste it into your web browser. From there, follow the directions on the Word document or PDF to save it to your Google Drive.

Argumentative Text Set - Can Cell Phones Be Educational Tools?

This four-passage text set is accompanied by an argumentative prompt regarding the topic of cell phones in the classroom. It's a perfect assignment to engage typically students of all ability levels due to the interesting topic. It will also strengthen your students experience with the idea of using the text to support their writing, rather than their own personal experiences.

Modeled after AIR Testing, which is used in numerous states across the country, it would also fit well into a PARCC simulation. The text set, itself, is 7 pages long.

Argumentative Text Set - Should Social Media Affect Hiring and Firing?

This three-passage text set is accompanied by an argumentative prompt regarding the topic of the use of social media in hiring and firing practices in the workplace. It's a perfect assignment to engage students, especially as students start to become more aware of the significance of the role of social media in the world around us. While many students might have personal opinions, this assignment will strengthen your students experience with the idea of using the text to support their writing, rather than their own personal experiences, since that is what is required.

Modeled after AIR Testing, which is used in numerous states across the country, it would also fit well into a PARCC simulation. The text set, itself, is 5-1/2 pages long.

As noted, all sets come in all three formats (PDF, Word, and Google Docs) so you can edit and revise as you see fit, or just print/copy/share electronically with students in your class tomorrow (or even today) - whatever works best for you!

Of course all of these items, as well as more text sets, are available in my store individually if you're more interested in one or two particular items, though the bundled price of these three text sets together is difficult to beat!
