Product Description
These videos are fantastic for upper elementary and middle school! They give a total of 2 hours and 47 minutes of engagement and excitement for your students. The topics cover Pandas (Animal Planet!), the Chinese Opera, and a Kung Fu stage show.

1. The Films of Deben Battacharya: Chinese Opera
This is a rare, hard to find video of the preparation and execution of a Chinese Opera. This was such a departure of what my middle school students thought of opera. The sounds and action were such a thrill!

2. Shaolin Legend from the Milan Film Series
This is also out of print. Product description: "Shaolin Legend captures the energy of the Kung-Fu stage show recorded live on February 8, 2006. With daunting stunts, the monks display their resistance to pain and their ability to control body and mind. They break wooden poles and iron bars over each other’s heads, crush Chinese bowls with their bare fingers, and pierce glass plates with a single needle. With breath-taking speed and agility, they display their mastery of sword and pole fights, their sense of balance and physical as well as mental endurance." WOW - can't get better for mu 8th graders!

3. Animal Planets: A Panda is Born
Editorial Review: "With only an estimated 1,600 living in the wild, the Giant Panda's survival depends on the fruitful reproduction of each member of the species. To that end, naturalists and zoologists worldwide have dedicated themselves to stabilizing and encouraging the endangered creature's notoriously low birthrate. Follow two topsy-turvy seasons of panda mating at the Smithsonian National Zoo, where female Mei Xiang and her mate, Tian Tian, finally succeed in giving birth to a panda cub. And watch as the littlest member of the family, Tai Shan, learns to feed, play and explore his strange, new world. "
My students live in Memphis, TN so they are quite enthralled with this video. They have visited two pandas at our zoo for most of their lives, and the hardships in fertility are well publicized in our area.

These three videos are in good used condition.
