This activity/game could be used as part of a sex ed unit in a Health class, by a counselor mentoring students that are showing signs of risky dating behaviors, or by a Behavior Strategist running a similar group of students participating in sexual or dating risky behavior. Statements about dating situations are placed on the board. For example, Your partner scares you when they're angry...Your partner calls your dad sir...Your partner forgets your birthday...and Your partner pressures you to have sex. Create an environment for students to play 3 Corners - for this game, the corners should be labeled ABUSIVE, HEALTHY, and UNSURE.
After students have had an opportunity to read the statement, they must walk to the appropriate corner based on their own experiences and truth. Ask for a few students to share something about why they are in that corner. Place a new statement on the board and ask for students to move. Repeat these procedures until all 32 statements have been read. Students must be MATURE to participate in this activity. This works best when there is already a safe and respectful learning environment and class culture.
