The class before I let students know they need to bring scissors, glue and/or tape. For the activity I let them work in groups of two or three. I then read them the directions while the power point slide is up. I then show them the next slide and count each of the groups 1 - 6 and repeat. This lets them know what figure they are to construct in addition to calculating the surface area and volume. All figures with the exception of the larger square pyramid can be constructed with a regular piece of construction paper. Those with the larger square pyramid have to use a larger 15 inch by 10 inch piece of construction paper. I included the rubric I use to grade them. I staple it to the paper they use to show their work to solve for surface area and volume. For volume a couple of the square pyramids need to have the height solved for using Pythagorean triples. Most of my students were able to figure this out.
