Thank you for your interest in this 5th-8th grade 3-day mini-unit on osmosis, diffusion, and molecular transport. This download includes 3 days’ worth of PowerPoint slides, a corresponding printable packet for your students, a review sheet, a lab, a demonstration, and one set of task cards.
**This product is included in the following larger units: "10-Day Comprehensive Cell Processes Packet” & “10-Day Cell Processes (slides, notes, labs, tests only; see below)." It also includes the individually sold product: “Osmosis, Diffusion, & Molecular Transport Task Cards.” Please double-check your purchases to ensure that you don't buy the same lesson twice. Thanks!**
The files are PowerPoint 2007 and PDFs in a zip file. The PowerPoint slides are compatible with Windows 7/Power Point 2007 or later. PowerPoint slides and worksheets are broken down by subject/day to help with flexibility in teaching. Packet is appropriate for 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, and homeschool students.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at email@example.com. Thank you!
Below is the suggested timeline for your curriculum:
Day 1 – Diffusion/Osmosis Notes, Starch/Iodine Demo, Start Potato Lab
2-page corresponding notes worksheet (answers on PowerPoint)
1-page Iodine Demonstration Instructions
2-page Lab with 2-page answer key
20 PowerPoint Slides
Day 2 – Finish Potato Lab, Molecular Transport Notes
Lab is continued from Day 1
1-page corresponding notes worksheet with journal question
22 PowerPoint Slides (Includes Lab Answers)
Day 3 – Review: Task Cards and Sorting Worksheet
28 Task Cards with answer key
2-page worksheet (1 page is to cut and paste)
1-page answer key
9 PowerPoint slides (includes answers)
Each PowerPoint slide set starts with a bell question to activate learning and ends with an exit question to quickly assess students. The slides correspond directly to the packets, and the information that needs to be written down is underlined on the slides. Slides are designed so that all the information does not appear at once and continues by clicking through the program at the appropriate pace. The answers for the reviews are included in the PowerPoint slides, and the labs have corresponding procedure slides.
One set of twenty-eight task cards are included to be set up as stations or centers where the students move through in order to reinforce concepts. They are also great to provide “early finishers” with extra reinforcement.
