I created this simple, parent-friendly handout to share with parents when explaining the Common Core at Back to School Night. I only had 25 minutes so I didn't want to spend time explaining the standards themselves, but the shifts in thinking behind the Common Core. I mean really, when you only a short time to get across a lot of important information, you must choose what you share wisely...and really, are they going to remember RFS.1.2.a (or whatever) or are they going to remember what you shared and the anecdotal stories you told about the way it "used it be when we were in school" and the way it is now?
Feel free to use this one-page resource in your classroom, with your team, school or district.
