This Power Point Presentation is perfect for the teacher who has a color printer and a laminating machine. Also, the PPT is useful to teachers who have a projector or a large monitor connected to a computer.
The English teacher will use phonics and blending techniques to read the card. The PPT is useful to both beginning readers and ESL learners.
A famous game for this activity is a game that is similar to both Old Maid and Uno. In order to play this game, the teacher has to print out two sets of small cards.
Before the game review the following structure:
Do you have a _________?
Place this structured sentence on the chalkboard with the response:
"Yes, I do! No, I don’t!"
Next", teach students how to play the 3 Letter word game. Demonstrate how to play the game. Select a small team and hand every student 3 cards. Choose a student to start. They will ask, “Do you have a cat?” If a student has the card, they will say, “Yes, I do./No, I don’t.” The student that has the card will give the other student their card and the student will place the pair of cards on the table. If nobody has the card, the student will pick up a card. The next student will ask the structured question with a three letter word they are trying to find a match for. If nobody has the card the student will have to pick up the cards from the pile. The student that finds matches for all of their cards wins.
