Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad Wolf?

If you are looking for a way to integrate literature to meet CCS, especially informational text and research projects, this is the unit for you!
This unit begins with a classic fairy tale: The Three Little Pigs. Students explore this book through reading (including an emergent reader with many sight words), writing, and other ELA activities.
Next, students will conduct a non-fiction study on wolves, which are often depicted as being "bad" in many fairy tales. Included is an original nonfiction book on wolves with many real photographs, a table of contents, and glossary.
Students will then have the opportunity to share what they have learned about wolves and use this theme to move through a large variety of language arts and CCS math activities.
