Are all your students stories the type that they wake up in the morning, have a fun time, and then go to bed at night? These "bed-to-bed" personal narratives often lack detail and direction because the writer is not focusing on their purpose. This bundle contains three 15-30 minute lessons that teach writing with a purpose. The first lesson is an object lesson that the kids will never forget- Rotten Raspberries. Lesson two contains two writing samples, one with purpose and one without, based on the same event that shows students the power of writing with a purpose. The third lesson uses an actual student sample of a first and final draft to demonstrate how students can edit their writing for purpose.
The lessons in this bundle help students master the Common Core Writing standard:
Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective techniques, relevant details, and wel-structured event sequences.
