This 3 in 1 Pack includes 3 full days for your substitute teacher (emergent readers, Grades K-1) These very same individual full day plans (BUGS theme, J-WORDS Theme, and GR-WORDS theme) are also sold in my store. All activities are ready to copy and go, without need for the sub to read lengthy directions. Explanations for students and for the sub are incorporated as scripts which headline some but not all worksheets. The only equipment your sub needs is a copy machine (Smartboard or Activeboard); the only supplies your kids need are pencils, crayons, scissors, and glue.

Each full day includes: Morning and afternoon large group “messages” for students to complete and for the sub teacher to use as “get acquainted” and “end of day wrap up” meetings. Each message should take from 30 to 45 minutes of class time.

Reader Response papers for students to write or draw after they have read independently or with an adult for 30 (or more) minutes. With adult guidance they will record what they learned about plot, characters, setting, and new words, whether they read a portion of a book or the whole thing. These reader response papers provide the opportunity for small group or large group sharing upon completion.

BUGS
In math, students will make a bugs counting (1-10) book; add bugs (1-5), and subtract bugs (from 8) In science, they will read and respond to two reading comprehension passages about bugs (the spider and the ladybug) They will cut out and match flashcards for eight different species of bugs. In literacy block they will make an ABC Bug Book and cut out and form sentences inside the Magic Sentence Cloud.

GR-WORDS
In writing, math and science today, students will focus on GR words. In math, they will solve addition problems (1-10) as they color in the bear (saying “Grrrrr”) picture. In writing they will review 8 different GR-words and do worksheets matching pictures to word, labeling pictures, matching sentences to pictures, and handwriting practice. In science they will read about the GRasshopper, GRoundhog, and GRizzly bear and make their own books about these GR animals.

J-WORDS
In writing, math and social studies today, students will focus on J words. In math, they will solve addition problems (through 10 or less) as they color in the Jar of Jellybeans picture. In writing they will review 8 different J-words and do worksheets matching pictures to word, labeling pictures, matching sentences to pictures, and handwriting practice. In social studies they will read about the jungle (rainforest), jaguar, and jobs (to protect the
rainforest) and make their own books about these J words.

Also included for each full day of plans is an activities grid that briefly explains each activity, possible variations of the activity, materials needed, and Common Core Standards Applied. Forms "Notes to the Sub" and Notes From the Sub" for each day also provided.
