This offering is a three puzzle package for both middle school and high school students (or anyone who likes puzzles and Christmas for that matter) of puzzles involving Christmas. Included are a vocabulary/matching puzzle with 18 nouns, some regular, some proper, that review the key nouns in the Christmas history. One of the crosswords is titled Christian Christmas Crossword and fifteen bold faced clues deal with the history of the birth, or the Bible in general. The other crossword is titled Secular Santa Crossword and is themed around Santa Claus, Rudolph, and their Christmas Eve trip. The theme clues in both are not too deep, but both puzzles WILL be enough to force some thinking. My solution page also explains some of my more "uncommon" answers. For younger students it might be best to work the puzzle in pairs or groups, or even as a class. It's intended to generate a challenge while providing some fun. Learning some new vocabulary is always a goal of mine in my crosswords. Remember! The point of a crossword is to have a little fun/challenge while you are learning something. You are not supposed to know each answer right away upon glancing at the clue. It would be no fun if you did. You’d have LEARNED nothing. (This is a message that might be imparted to your students.) I try to phrase enough of the clues so that a student/person will know many of the answers immediately . . . the rest of the clues I want to challenge the doer a little bit. When they’ve learned something through being challenged they’ll appreciate their accomplishment, and the experience, a lot more.
