November is National Novel Writing Month (affectionately known as NaNoWriMo). While I think this is an amazing writing opportunity, I think it is a little too ambitious for my high school students.
Instead of committing to writing 50,000 words in 30 days, we will be writing about ourselves for fifteen minutes each day in November. Of course, you could totally do this any month that you wish (if you change months, you will have to adjust the dates that I have listed).
Included in this massive file is a prompt for each day and the paper (lined, numbered, sometimes a spot for a drawing, and words of encouragement) to keep your students writing. This will definitely get your students writing! I plan on using mine as a springboard for a personal narrative in December.
