Additionally, these topics are frequently used as expository and persuasive prompts on state exams such as STAAR/EOC and TSI. In those exams, analyzing a quote for meanings, making connections to pertinent examples, and building a repertoire of hooks and conclusions can often derail a struggling writer.
This file contains 6 weeks worth of in-class daily work which can be broken into independent options for writing or as group discussion sessions in a Writer's Workshop.
A) An Analysis Strip sheet for a quick assessment, bell ringer form, by groups, or hole punched and kept on a binder ringer for easy reference building in preparation for essay writing.
B) Presentation Mode: The 30 quotes ready to be projected and used as bell ringers.
C) Task Cards: 30 cards for use in discussion groups, stations, Writer's Workshop, or as assignments.
D) Posters: The quotes can be printed for display in a bulletin board for use as motivation or reference when writing essays.
