This set of 30 task cards focuses on the skill of understanding integers. Students will compare, order, construct number lines, and answer a variety of questions to assess their understanding of both positive and negative integers.
COMMON CORE CORRELATION: CCSS.Math.Content.6.NS.C.5
Understand that positive and negative numbers are used together to describe quantities having opposite directions or values (e.g., temperature above/below zero, elevation above/below sea level, credits/debits, positive/negative electric charge); use positive and negative numbers to represent quantities in real-world contexts, explaining the meaning of 0 in each situation.
COMMON CORE CORRELATION: CCSS.Math.Content.6.NS.C.6.c
Find and position integers and other rational numbers on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram.
VDOE STANDARDS OF LEARNING CORRELATION: SOL 6.3a & 6.3b
a) Identify and represent integers
b) Order and compare integers
I am always looking for meaningful practice for students other than worksheet after worksheet. If you are the same, you will love this alternative.
These cards work wonderfully as a formative assessment to help determine students' understanding.
The cards can be used in a whole group, small groups, or as a math center. They can be used to play SCOOT or posted around the room to get students up and moving while performing meaningful practice. They are a great resource for remediation and extra targeted practice.
I have included blank cards at the end so that you can insert your own questions if needed.
There is a KEY included.
