Who lives in your backyard? Here is a set of 11 temperate forest birds, 11 mammals and a total of 8 reptiles and amphibians. Each page is divided into an image and the name of the animal. They can be printed out and cut in half and laminated.
They can be used in many different ways with your imagination as the limit! I find it very important for the students to know their local birds, animals and wildlife etc. Many of them recognize them by sight but have no idea what their names are or anything about them.
Finding partners: You can divide the students into half who have images and half with the names and have them find their partner and do a little research on their animal.
Concentration: You can play concentration with the 22 bird cards, with the 16 reptile and amphibian cards or the 22 mammal cards. For a real challenge you can use all 60 names and images!
Go Fish: You could play a version of “Go Fish” with the pairs being the name and the image. There are so many different activities that you can do with these pairs!
Bulletin Board: After using them for various activities they would make a nice bulletin board display to be learned over time during a unit on either biomes or just the temperate local forest.
All of the images are full color and researched to be copyright free. I left the backgrounds white to use less ink plus I put two cards on each page.
