These writing journal prompts are for primary students in K-2. These prompts ask students to draw and then write about their illustrations. There are 30 pages with a prompt at the top, an area for illustrating, and primary lines for them to write. I also included a blank page for you to write your own prompts, a full page of primary lines for those who need more space to write, journal covers, and a writing checklist. These prompts can be used at the beginning of the school year to get to know your students' writing skills or at any other time of the year you see fit. I included the prompts in strips so students can cut and paste in a writing journal or you can place them at a writing center.
Another idea is to use these as weekly homework assignments.
*Some Journal Prompt Topics include:
1st day of school
A best friend
A favorite animal
A day at the park
A sunny day
The best meal
A day at the zoo
