ACTIVITIES INCLUDED: Students can match the picture cards to the letter sound card header. Students can complete this activity using a pocket chart, table or on the floor. It is a good idea to begin this activity in a small group teacher led setting so that students can become familiar with the correct picture names. You can also have your students play a memory game or a small group game with the picture cards.
PHONEMIC AWARENESS: Your students can practice their phonemic awareness skills by matching pictures that have the same beginning sound.
PARTNER CARDS: Set aside the cards that you will need, making sure that each card has a matching pair. Pass a card out to each student and have them find their matching pair. Those two students become partners for your next activity.
