This presentation is for weekly student reflection. It contains 31 slides with unique questions for students to answer about independently-read novels. They are complex questions which allow students to show their ability to use higher-level thinking. Students are expected to use direct quotes in their responses with clear commentary explaining how the responses answer the question. Slides can be used in any order!!!
The questions align with common core standards! Unlike some questions out there, students can't "fake" reading the book and answer the questions successfully. I have been using similar questions for several years with great success. Having them in a slideshow makes them quick and easy to use!
I “hid” 15 slides in this presentation that I used with my students to help them organize their responses. If you look at the thumbnails on the left, they have a slash through the number. You are welcome to right-click on the slides and make them visible if you wish to use them.
Some of the example hidden slides are color-coded using the Jane Schaefer method of writing with blue for topic sentence and concluding sentences, red for concrete detail, and green for commentary.
These questions are for weekly use with the reading journal reflection sheet, book log, and book wish list at the following sites. Please consider downloading the first for $1 and the other two for free.
I hope you get as much out of this as my students and I have! I look forward to your feedback!
