Product Description
This composing and decomposing of numbers and place value relationship activity (TEKs 3.2A & 3.2B) is very diverse and can be used as a whole group activity, for small group instruction, tutoring, centers or anchor stations. It allows for differentiated instruction as well.

Assembly Directions: I choose to print and laminate every station sheet and every QR code answer sheet. I then laminated them. There are two ways to play this game. I then took 6 hooks (one for each station) and put every QR Code answer sheet for challenge one on one hook. I then repeated this process for each challenge. I kept the number cards and the challenge cards separated.

Option 1 Directions: I have played this game two ways. Option 1. I have taken the 6 station cards and put one at each table. I then found the matching QR Code hook and put it along with any materials the students would need at the table. Students then picked one number, (or the teacher can assign a number) and took the recording sheet with all 6 stations on it and completed each station with the one number. I make them record their answers on their recording sheets and then they can check their answers using the QR codes. Make sure to have enough base ten blocks out for station 5 (some numbers require a lot). This way they practice composing and decomposing the same number in 6 different ways. You could also have this in a center and have students pick one number and complete all 6 stations with it.

Option 2 Directions: Option 2 is where the students focus on one station. I will pick one Station (lets say its Station 1) the students will then take the station 1 recording sheet and build all 8 numbers with base ten blocks. They will record their answers on the recording sheet and then check them with the QR codes. This is a great tool for small group or centers. This option the students will practice the station 8 different times.
