This is a hands on game my students LOVE! The directions on how to play are below. Me personally, I laminate the games so I can use them from year to year, but you could print them on paper too. This game helps practice seeing a fraction model and recalling its fraction.
DIRECTIONS: Play Fraction Cover Up with a partner. Materials needed are 8 two-color counters, a small cup or plastic container for shaking the counters, a pencil or washable marker per player, and 1 game sheet. Each player selects a fraction grid below to record his/her tosses. In turn, each player shakes the 8 two-color counters in the cup, tosses the counters, and states the fraction of counters that land red-side up. If the player states the correct fraction, he/she can shade the square containing that fraction on the appropriate fraction grid. If the player tosses the counters and no counters land re-side up, he/she loses the turn. The player with the most squares shaded when the teacher calls time is the winner.
