How much Money Vocabulary Game
Students form two teams. The teacher designates a banker.
The teacher provides the banker with play money to give out: pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollars. (Begin with two of the smaller values and work up to all values of money.)
Penny – word is read correctly
Nickel word is read correctly and spelled correctly.
Dime – word is read correctly, spelled correctly, and the definition is given correctly.
Quarter- word is read correctly, spelled correctly, the definition is given correctly, and used in a sentence correctly.
Dollar – word is read correctly, spelled correctly, the definition is given correctly, used in a sentence correctly, and acted out or an example given by drawing a picture.
At the beginning of each student’s turn, he or she select
the level of the challenge.
The teacher displays a word card for five seconds.
The student answers according to the level of challenge
If the student answers correctly the banker records the
challenge amount earned. If the student answers any
part of the challenge incorrectly, the other team is given
the opportunity to respond. Play alternates between the
teams until the correct answer is given. The team that
answers correctly earns the challenge amount of money
designated at the beginning of the turn.
When the game stops, the team with the most money wins.
