Which One Doesn’t Belong?
Critical Thinking - DOK 3 Activities
Students examine four mathematical statements and determine which one of the four doesn’t belong. They are asked to make a claim, provide evidence to support their claim and then explain WHY the evidence supports their claim.
After they’ve done that, students are asked to provide 4 examples of their own on the same topic where one doesn’t belong.
The 2nd stage can be used multiple ways; students can themselves explain their work or they can trade with a partner and complete their partner’s task.
This can be used as a station, partner work, problem of the day, bell ringer, enrichment, etc.
