Product Description

3-D Cell Analogy Project is used as a way to assess students on their understanding of cell parts. Not only will students be able to describe functions of a variety of organelles, but they will also learn how they function together. Students brainstorm a system, place, or object that has similar functioning parts to a cell. They then build a small model in a shoe box to demonstrate how these parts all work together and function just like a cell does.

Product includes the following components:

  • 2 modified assignments for students of different needs
  • A list of over 36 project ideas
  • Example student projects
  • Teacher directions and recommendations for instruction
  • Student work pages
  • Rubric

NGSS Performance Expectation MS-LS1-2: Develop and use a model to describe the function of a cell as a whole and ways the parts of cells contribute to the function.

This activity takes about 1 week for students to research and design and about 1 additional week to build their structures if you do this in 45-50 minute class periods.

Please Note: This product is included in the Microscope and Cells Unit Bundle.
