This easy-to-assemble math center includes 5 jumbo basketball court mats with a product written in the middle. Students will work to find which baskets (labeled with factors) could be paired together to make that product.
As a result, students are developing a firm understanding of the commutative property of multiplication as well as witnessing the connection between multiplication and division.
I set up this center by printing the product in color and on card stock paper. I cut out all of the pieces and laminated the set. The title page, I glued onto a folder before laminating to use for organized storage. I then put velcro circles on the baskets and two circles on either side of the basketball court mat for students to easily attach the factors that they wish.
As an extension, students could flip the court mat over and write the fact family of four number sentences using multiplication and division to practice and develop their fact fluency.
The product is organized for the correct baskets/hoop products to be found on the same page as the court in which they belong, which can become an easy answer key tool.
