This is an activity that can be used instantly for a warm up within the intermediate elementary grades. Simply have the students enter the gym and tell them which color team (red, green, blue, orange, yellow, purple) they will be a part of if they do not already have an association with one of those colors as a part of your procedures/routines. In our gym, our squad spots are color coded so the kids already know what color they are, which makes it easy. Have the students spread out in a good personal space and follow along with the powerpoint in order to participate in the activity. Whatever exercise is within their colored square, that is the exercise they will perform. The powerpoint lists the name of the exercise in the colored square as well shows how the exercise is performed in a looping animated GIF image. After 45 seconds, the slide will automatically switch to the next exercise. By the end of the instant activity, the students will have performed 6 different exercises.
The exercises included are jumping jacks, running in place, toe touch stretch, mason twists, burpees and squats.
