This wonderful product is called Grammar story #1, (grammar activities for kids in a story format) and is the first in a series! :)
I created this product because I saw my own learners become disinterested in learning (or reviewing) grammar concepts.
I found that students became instantly engaged in grammar, when I allowed them to become the editor of a story! :)
(It became the students' great pleasure...to correct the grammar mistakes that I wrote into the story!) :)
In this story, a student is struggling in Math, and forgets to do his Math homework! The student, named Jack, is afraid that his teacher will call his parents. If the teacher calls his parents, will he lose computer game AND pizza privileges, forever?)
:) :) :)
Additional product info: The story is divided into grammar sections: spelling, run-on sentences, verb tenses, etc.
Question 1: How do I help students to best utilize this product?
Answer: I'm so glad you asked! :) First, have students read the first section. (independently, or with the class)
Next, prompt students to correct the specific grammar mistakes in the section.
Last, give students the answer key, (provided with each section) so that they can correct any remaining mistakes. (Continue this procedure with the rest of the grammar sections in this story.)
Question 2: How frequently should I use the grammar story with students?
Answer: This grammar story can be used daily with students, or it can be used weekly. The last assignment (in the story) is a "Write your own ending" activity! :)
Bonus! :) This activity also comes with a pre-writing template, to help students to organize their thoughts. (before they begin writing)
Thanks so much, and have a wonderful school year!
