Even with student records being passed from teacher to teacher, after a long summer it is important to assess where each student is to help you create effective lessons.
This assessment is based on 2nd grade end of year benchmarks. It is to determine what skills and concepts the students mastered from the year before (and still remember!) and see how they view themselves as mathematicians. In addition, it combines pure and applied problems to gather information on their problem solving skills. There is an extension component of the assessment for you to get a better understanding of which students understand some 3rd grade benchmarks already.
The math reflection is to provide you with information on how your students view themselves as mathematicians and of math in general.
There is a spreadsheet included so you can compile the students' performance into a whole class overview
