►3.NF.A.1 Understand a fraction 1/b as the quantity formed by 1 part when a whole is partitioned into b equal parts; understand a fraction a/b as the quantity formed by a parts of size 1/b.

►3.NF.A.2 Understand a fraction as a number on the number line; represent fractions on a number line diagram.

►3.NF.A.2.A Represent a fraction 1/b on a number line diagram by defining the interval from 0 to 1 as the whole and partitioning it into b equal parts. Recognize that each part has size 1/b and that the endpoint of the part based at 0 locates the number 1/b on the number line.

**How to Play Benchmark Fraction Bingo:** Students select their own bingo board. There are several boards to select from. I start by using the bingo boards with models and wait to introduce the fraction number bingo boards until I know the student has a strong conceptual understanding. There are two spinners to choose from. Spin the spinner and call out the benchmark fraction. Each student puts a marker on a fraction that is close to or equal to the benchmark fraction spun. I double check to make sure they place their markers correctly while we are learning to make sure everyone understands. Benchmark fraction number lines are also included. I have students find the benchmark fraction number line that includes the fraction they placed their chip on as another means to develop understanding using multiple representations. This also targets additional standards. The first player to get four in a row wins and says “Bingo”. This is a game that can be played over and over.

2. Guided Math and Intervention: Use this resource to reteach, review, practice, or assess understanding.
