►3.3(F) Represent equivalent fractions with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 using a variety of objects and pictorial models, including number lines.
►3.3(H) Compare two fractions having the same numerator or denominator in problems by reasoning about their sizes and justifying the conclusion using symbols, words, objects, and pictorial models.
►3.3(A) Represent fractions greater than zero and less than or equal to one with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 using concrete objects and pictorial models, including strip diagrams and number lines.
►3.3(B) Determine the corresponding fraction greater than zero and less than or equal to one with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 given a specified point on a number line.

How to Play Benchmark Fraction Bingo:
Students select their own bingo board. There are several boards to select from. I start by using the bingo boards with models and wait to introduce the fraction number bingo boards until I know the student has a strong conceptual understanding. There are two spinners to choose from. Spin the spinner and call out the benchmark fraction. Each student puts a marker on a fraction that is close to or equal to the benchmark fraction spun. I double check to make sure they place their markers correctly while we are learning to make sure everyone understands. Benchmark fraction number lines are also included. I have students find the benchmark fraction number line that includes the fraction they placed their chip on as another means to develop understanding using multiple representations. This also targets additional standards. The first player to get four in a row wins and says “Bingo”. This is a game that can be played over and over.

There are several ways you could use this resource in your classroom!
1. Math Workstation: Use during math workstation time. This resource is student friendly so students can complete independently during math centers once games have been introduced.
2. Guided Math and Intervention: Use this resource to reteach, review, practice, or assess understanding.
3. Whole Class Lesson: Use as a whole class lesson to teach foundational understanding of fraction number sense.
4. Homework: Why not make homework more fun and get the whole family involved? Take turns sending this game home with students. You can call it Family Game Night homework!
