Description

3rd Grade BACK TO SCHOOL math review! Aligned to the standards! Includes story problem solving practice and math fact fluency practice! Back to school math activities perfect for third grade math block! Beginning of the year review to help set up math centers and math small groups! Easy, no-prep purposeful practice activity! Digital Version Included to support distance learning!

With 4 weeks of spiral review content, this packet is perfect for the beginning of third grade! Each week includes daily spiral review questions (2 questions per day) for Monday through Thursday, and then a weekly check (with 7-10 questions) for Friday that include both fluency practice and challenging problem solving practice. It is designed to take no more than 10 minutes at the beginning of your math block, so it is perfect for students to work on as they're transitioning classes or subjects and getting ready to start math during the first four weeks of school.

Each day should be followed by a brief whole-group discussion of the answers and main content focus of the standard. You could also use it as a bell ringer activity or early finisher activity if that works better for you. The weekly check covers all of the standards from the week and is a great informal assessment to help you plan for small group instruction in those first weeks of school. Each week covers spiral review standards from second grade, and then as the weeks progress bridges into third grade standards in the same domains.

This product includes:

  • 8 pages of rigorous academic content aligned to the second and third grade math standards (2 pages per week for the first four weeks of school).
  • An answer key for each page
  • BONUS: 3 pages including a Math Mindset Survey and Back to School Math All About Me worksheet!

This product specifically focuses on computation and problem solving review in the OA, NBT domains with some standards in the MD and G domains. It covers primarily second grade standards to review the previous year's content but also covers some third grade content. Standards covered include: 2.OA.A.1, 2.OA.B.2, 2.OA.C.3, 2.OA.C.4, 2.NBT.A.1, 2.NBT.A.2, 2.NBT.A.3, 2.NBT.A.4, 2.NBT.B.5, 2.NBT.B.6, 2.NBT.B.7, 2.NBT.B.8, 2.NBT.B.9, 2.MD.B.5, 2.ND.B.6, 2.MD.C.7, 2.MD.C.8, 2.G.A.1, 2.G.A.3, 3.OA.A.1, 3.NBT.A.2, 3.OA.B.5, 3.NBT.A.1 and 3.MD.A.1, It also covers Mathematical Practice Standards 1, 6 and 7. Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
Determine whether a group of objects (up to 20) has an odd or even number of members, e.g., by pairing objects or counting them by 2s; write an equation to express an even number as a sum of two equal addends.
Use addition to find the total number of objects arranged in rectangular arrays with up to 5 rows and up to 5 columns; write an equation to express the total as a sum of equal addends.
Interpret products of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 5 × 7 as the total number of objects in 5 groups of 7 objects each. For example, describe a context in which a total number of objects can be expressed as 5 × 7.
