WHAT'S INCLUDED? (PRINT AND DIGITAL)

30 print and digital task cards / slides where students fill in the four division strategies in each of the four boxes provided. Students practice dividing with equal groups, repeated subtraction, using fact families (turning it into a multiplication equation), and skip counting.

HOW TO IMPLEMENT DIGITALLY:

There are 30 slides included where students learn to divide. You could have students complete these slides over the course of the week, do one a day together as a warm-up activity, use them as quick-checks, review, remediation, and so much more. The options are endless!

HOW TO IMPLEMENT IN PRINT FORM:

Print the task cards out and put them in a math center. Have students record answers on the recording sheet provided. Students can use the self-checking answer key to check their work. You can choose between the color and black and white option.

Aligns with Common Core 3.OA.2:

  • Interpret whole-number quotients of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 56 ÷ 8 as the number of objects in each share when 56 objects are partitioned equally into 8 shares, or as a number of shares when 56 objects are partitioned into equal shares of 8 objects each.

This aligns with 2nd Grade Texas TEKS:

  • TEKS 2.6B: model, create, and describe contextual division situations in which a set of concrete objects is separated into equivalent sets

This aligns with 3rd Grade Texas TEKS:

  • TEKS 3.4H: determine the number of objects in each group when a set of objects is partitioned into equal shares or a set of objects is shared equally
  • TEKS 3.4J: determine a quotient using the relationship between multiplication and division

This aligns with Florida BEST Standards (B.E.S.T.)

  • MA.3.NSO.2.2 Explore multiplication of two whole numbers with products from 0 to 144, and related division facts.
  • MA.3.NSO.2.4 Multiply two whole numbers from 0 to 12 and divide using related facts with procedural reliability.

Interpret whole-number quotients of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 56 ÷ 8 as the number of objects in each share when 56 objects are partitioned equally into 8 shares, or as a number of shares when 56 objects are partitioned into equal shares of 8 objects each. For example, describe a context in which a number of shares or a number of groups can be expressed as 56 ÷ 8.
Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
