This PowerPoint goes over third-grade standard 3.NF.A.3 parts a, b, and c for equivalent fractions and expressing whole numbers as fractions. Throughout the PowerPoint, students see various representations of equivalent fractions and fractions greater than 1. In addition, this PowerPoint includes various challenge or reflection questions to inspire students critical thinking skills. Students will demonstrate their ability to represent models as fractions, draw models to represent fractions, and develop their own equivalent fractions. Various animations and transitions are used throughout the PowerPoint. When you download the PowerPoint, I suggest you click through the slideshow to see how each animation works. In addition, at the end of the PowerPoint, I included various center activities that can be found on TPT that I have used with my class and suggest using after the presentation. The student page can be found in my store as well, for students to follow along with the PowerPoint presentation and answer the various questions when the teacher pauses. I recommend separating this PowerPoint into two lessons to last two days because each section will last an estimated 20 to 40 minutes of group work.
