### Description

This 3rd Grade Go Math 1.3 Estimate Sums Color By Number Resource includes 5 student pages for introducing or reviewing How to Estimate Sums and 5 answer keys. You will love the no prep, print and go ease of these Estimate Sums Printables Resource. Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction is an essential skill to master in third grade. Students need to be able to understand how to use place value to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100 as a stepping stone for many third grade math skills. With the 5 Estimate Sums Answer Keys also included, this helps you quickly and efficiently check your students work in a very short amount of time.

I have no math problems on the cute little children's skin and hair, allowing your students to select any skin tone color and any hair color. The directions read, "You pick the color for any empty areas." This also allows for some creativity after their math is done by selecting additional colors of their choice for the borders and other blank remaining areas. This feature is a real hit with my teacher buyers!

This Estimate Sums Color By Number Resource Includes:

Page One - A cover page stating "Using Rounding to Estimate the Sum" that can be used for a cover sheet for your file folder in your files. It can also be a folder cover for your students, give them a file folder with this cover and they can keep all the student sheets in the file folder to work on during math centers, morning work, or as a fast finisher activity. You can take a large piece of construction paper, 12 inches X 18 inches, fold it in half and use that as a "File Folder" to hold your students' work.

Page Two - This page is a Common Core poster for your math center, or classroom with the main focus of the lesson. It can also be used as a page in your students folder to explain the "Student Goal" ~ The "Why?" we are learning this skill.

A cute little boy is on the poster that they can color and it also has the Common Core definition.

Use place value understanding to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.

Page Three - A cute little boy reading and listening to his music on this solve and color page. Students solve the Estimate Sums - Round to the Nearest Ten Only problems on this page and then use the Color Code to color it in. Lesson Plan Ideas

Monday - Use page 6, the 15 Estimate Sums - Round to the Nearest Ten Only math problems, as a pre-assessment. Plan your small groups for the week around the data from this and your other observations.

Tuesday - Use page 7, the 15 Estimate Sums - Round to the Nearest Hundred Only math problems as morning work. Depending on the level of your boys and girls, they can complete the page alone, in pairs, or in a group. You can have the answer key on the board so that they are copying the correct answers as a very basic, low math level activity. OR Once the boys and girls are done, you, or a student, can project the answer key, covering up the problems and call them out one at a time, while revealing the answer. During math rotations, use page 3, the cute little boy reading and listening to his music with the Estimate Sums - Round to the Nearest Ten Only problems during the student seat work time.

Wednesday - During math rotations, use page 4, the cute, adorable, funky apple with the Estimate Sums - Round to the Nearest Hundred Only problems during the student seat work time.

Thursday - During morning work, classwork, small group instruction, or seat work, have the students complete page 5, the adorable, funky cupcake page with the Estimate Sums - Round to the Nearest Hundred Only problems. You can have the students self-correct the page or peer sharing to review and come to a final answer together, all sorts of review possibilities.

Friday - Use page 7 again, the Estimate Sums - Round to the Nearest Hundred Only page as a final assessment.

Weekly Homework - You can use any and all of these pages as your weekly homework review, they are completely student self-directed so you will not have any problems or concerns with parents that are unable to help their children with this assignment. Win-Win for everyone!
