I wanted to jump head first into the world of interactive notebooks with my students. As I began the search for interactive notebooks for reading, I wasn't finding what was going to fit MY students needs. Then I began thinking of all the ways I teach different standards and wishing there was a way for those strategies to be added to their notebooks. Then I began thinking of the activities my favorite teacher authors I used in my class and wanting those to be included in their notebooks. Then my head almost exploded!---There is just too much goodness to create in one file and I didn't want to limit my students knowledge to just the ideas I had created.
Out of necessity, this file was created. It is all the FIXINGS for one fantastic common core aligned interactive reading notebook that I could build with my students and for my students needs, because as we all know every class is different year to year.
This file is a blank table of contents to be filled in throughout the year as we build and create and every 3rd grade common core reading standard in friendly "I Can" language paired with it's reading strategy heading.
Now when we want to add to our notebook, we cut out the heading, glue it in and use whatever strategy, graphic organizer, foldable, booklet, organizers, illustration, quick write, mini anchor etc. is best for the students in front of me at that moment! This way I can use all the resources I want created by a variety of authors and publishers.
There are no activities included in this file. It is only the headings and table of contents for student interactive notebooks.
To create an Interactive Notebook Students Need:
-spiral or composition notebook (I like using a spiral because the binding doesn't break as more pages are added throughout the year.)
-markers, colored pencils, etc.
Skills Covered/Headings in this file include:
-questioning: Fiction and Non-Fiction
-parts of a story
-point of view
-retell and summarize
-cause and effect
-compare and contrast
-literal and non-literal word meanings
