SURVIVAL! That is why I made this product! As a K-5 teacher for decades, teaching writing has always been tricky….or rather frustrating with guilt attached! With students at various levels, it is darn overwhelming. My survival skills sparked as the light bulb came on when my son started writing “Five Paragraph Essays” in high school. Why can’t this precise and organized writing be done in elementary school as well? The answer is…..IT CAN and HERE IT IS!.
Instead of sitting and staring, your students will now have a directed road map/foundation to make the “rough draft” process easy and understandable. Depending on the writing style for the week, these structured templates guide the students through five boxes that show what goes in each box. Once they have filled in their “rough draft” templates, the final copy is even easier to write as the students just need a lined piece of paper with each box turning into an indented paragraph. My students are even impressed with themselves!
The PREVIEW for this product includes teacher instructions that give you an idea of the process! The PRODUCT includes “rough draft” templates for the four types of writing. You will have blank masters of primary rough draft forms, blank masters of intermediate rough draft forms, and if you happen to teach with Journeys, I have made 30 rough drafts that have the writing and grammar skill of the week included on each rough draft. Students will automatically apply the newly learned skills in their writing each week! If you use a different edition of Journeys, look at the PREVIEW as I have listed the Anchor Texts to compare prior to purchasing.
If you don’t use the Journeys curriculum, these templates will still be beneficial and impressive as the required reading and writing standards for this grade level are aligned with this product.
If you are interested in the blank PRIMARY and/or INTERMEDIATE rough draft templates only, check out my store for this product.
Thanks so much for your interest in my Writing product. This has made such a big difference for my students! Let’s get those road maps out and get going!
