A Little More Information

I have been making anchor charts with my students for the past several years. I often like to make them together with my class for student input and ownership. However, I would find myself spending way too much time rewriting and recreating the charts to make them presentable enough to hang on my wall. I have created this collection of anchor charts to help save time and to give my anchor charts a clean and cohesive look. I like for my anchor charts to be large and readable for students all over my classroom, so I have created a large version of each of the posters. The large version’s dimensions are 18x24. These can be printed on four pieces of paper and taped together. They can also be sent to almost any printing service for professional printing. I sent my posters to shortrunposters.com and had them printed for $3 per poster. I realize that not everyone wants, or has space, for these large posters, so I’ve also created a poster for a regular piece of paper.

Partition shapes into parts with equal areas. Express the area of each part as a unit fraction of the whole. For example, partition a shape into 4 parts with equal area, and describe the area of each part as 1/4 of the area of the shape.
Understand that shapes in different categories (e.g., rhombuses, rectangles, and others) may share attributes (e.g., having four sides), and that the shared attributes can define a larger category (e.g., quadrilaterals). Recognize rhombuses, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals, and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories.
Explain equivalence of fractions in special cases, and compare fractions by reasoning about their size.
Understand a fraction as a number on the number line; represent fractions on a number line diagram.
Understand a fraction 1/𝘣 as the quantity formed by 1 part when a whole is partitioned into 𝘣 equal parts; understand a fraction 𝘢/𝑏 as the quantity formed by 𝘢 parts of size 1/𝘣.
