Included In This Product:
★20 3rd Grade Music Lesson Plans. Lessons are aligned to the National Core Arts Standards and were designed to last 50 minutes (this can vary depending on the skill and behavior of your students). Four of the lessons include songs and activities to be played on xylophones or other similar instruments. If you do not own xylophones, metallophones, or other similar instruments, you will have to omit portions of these lessons.
★Each lesson contains a shorter version called “lessons at a glance.” Each lesson at a glance contains the objective for that lesson, standards, new terms/concepts, songs, required materials, and optional materials. These are a great way to get a quick idea of what you will be teaching in each lesson as well as what materials you need without having to read through the entire lesson plan!
★1 Song list. This file contains a list of all the songs contained in the lessons as well as links to where you can find those songs and the lessons that those songs are used in.(NOTE: 12 of the 14 songs needed to teach the lessons are included in this product. The other 2 can be found for free on YouTube or can be downloaded on Amazon for 89 cents and 99 cents per song. Links to those downloads are provided both in the lessons and in the song list.)
★250 pages of 3rd grade resources (PowerPoint presentations, original song notation, posters, worksheets, word wall cards, and more!)
★Examples of resources included:
--10 original songs and 2 original warm-ups
All of the original songs include piano accompaniment. The piano accompaniment for each song requires beginner to moderate skill level. Sound files are included for each song and are in MP3 format. Recordings include both full score and accompaniment only. They were recorded using music notation software and do not include human voices singing the melody (the pitches of the melody are played by various instruments such as clarinet and flute).

--PowerPoint presentations introducing concepts such as the how to perform Ti-Tika, identifying high and low on a xylophone, 3/4 time signature, interactive rhythm cards, the life and music of Charlie Parker, and more!

--Printable rhythm flash cards along with pictures and instructions for how to put them together
--Other printables including ostinato worksheets, file folder games, listening glyphs, music baseball game board and scorecard, printable music storybook, and writing prompts

Information About The Lesson Plans:
★ Lessons are aligned to the National Core Arts Standards.
★Each lesson contains blank sections for the teacher’s name and the date they plan to teach the lesson.
★Lessons include the following sections: Objective (written as an “I Can” statement), Warm-Up, Anticipatory Set, Model, Guided Practice, and Independent Practice.
★Lessons include the following concepts:
Sing partner songs with accurate pitch
Identify the names of notes above and below the staff
Perform music with expression using the following tempos: adagio, andante, moderato, and allegro
Perform music with expression using the following dynamics: crescendo and decrescendo
Play classroom Orff instruments with appropriate technique
Improvise pitches within a given tonality
Identify and perform Ti-ka Ti-ka
Identify and respond to binary and ternary form
Learn rhythms independently without help from the teacher
Add note values together
Read music containing systems, braces, and brackets
Compose an ostinato in 4/4 time using standard notation
Listen and describe music from the 1950’s
Identify and describe a famous African American composer (Charlie Parker)
Perform appropriately for an audience and respond to teacher feedback

Important Notes About This Product:
✓A projector is required to use the PowerPoint presentations.
✓A Smart Board is not required but is helpful when utilizing portions of this resource. If you do not have a Smart Board in your classroom, simply allow students to click the mouse at your computer to view interactive features throughout the resource (some pages include clickable objects).
✓ Four of the lessons include songs and activities to be played on xylophones or other similar instruments. If you do not own xylophones, metallophones, or other similar instruments, you will have to omit portions of these lessons or allow students to play the songs in these lessons on other instruments such as boomwhackers or staircase bells.
✓ Other materials needed to implement these lessons include: colored pencils, plastic sandwich bags, file folders, non-pitched percussion instruments of your choice, paper clips or clothespins, one light ball, scissors, and dice.
