Tired of copying morning work papers every week - raise your hand! Me too! So, to cure this problem, I project my morning work for my students on my whiteboard and they compete their morning work in a marble composition notebook - no more copies - save the trees!
I have been using my 2nd Grade Projectable Morning Work for the past two years and have very much enjoyed being able to review some of those “little” skills such as alphabetical order, compound words, and more.
After many requests, I have created a 3rd Grade set and the 1st Grade Projectable Morning Work
set. The set up is the same as my 2nd Grade set and I have included a sample “set-up” page in the preview and your purchased download.
This morning work is a spiral of concepts. Some concepts will be repeated all year - beginning to end - approximately every 10 days.
Each day, students will write the date and how many days of school it is. Then they will complete 2 ELA and 2 Math tasks. These tasks begin as a review of 2nd Grade content at the beginning of the year and move to cover more 3rd Grade content throughout the year.
The ELA tasks in this morning work are more open-ended than some of those in my 2nd Grade set - so students are practicing a skill but they’re answer may not be the same as that of the person beside them. For example, one spiral task asks students to write a sentence that shows possession of an object. So students are practicing adding an apostrophe in the correct place to show possession of an object, but each student will write their own, unique sentence.
For math - there are LOTS (and I mean lots) of word problems, especially in the second half of the school year. Word problem topics include fractions, telling time, measurement, and more.
Some tasks, especially in the second half of the school year will have students create a problem, write a sentence, etc and then have a peer solve the problem or find the mistakes in the sentence.
Each day also includes a joke of the day. An additional PDF in the ZIP file includes all Joke of the Day answers.
Learning from a Distance or Virtually? I have included a folder with images of each day's morning work so that you can easily upload these to your Google Classroom or Virtual Learning Class Space each day so students can complete these at home as well.
