Included are 32 weeks of a reading log and spiral math review paired with a third grade curriculum. I date each box to help my students and myself stay organized, but I will also share an editable document if you prefer to work without the dates, have different school calendar dates, or if you would like to fine-tune some pieces for your own classroom - just email me :).
There are six boxes for students to complete each week - Saturday thru Thursday - Friday is considered a "free day" as I collect and pass out homework each Friday. With students knowing this weekly expectation, they can manage their time and complete boxes at their own discretion.
Layout of the Reading Log:
Students are expected to read 20 minutes each session, recording the title of the text, author, and pages read. Students will also respond to a question each read in a complete sentence. Reading and writing should take students no longer than 25 minutes per session.
Layout of the Math Spiral Review:
Students will answer/ solve 3 questions each day (A, B, and C). Math review should take students no longer than 5 minutes per session to complete.
I copy each week's work double-sided.
This process has enhanced my students responsibility, time management skills, and review skills. It has also streamlined my grading process for daily homework - I just check it once a week now :)
