This zip file contains 9 reading mini lesson files targeted for 3rd grade. There are 3 informational mini lessons, 6 literature mini lessons, and 1 page of links for resources to go along with them.
**If you are responsible for your own reading lessons with no curriculum to go off of, these mini lessons are a great way to start! This is how I started before my school implemented a curriculum.**
Each mini lesson is used with a mentor text, poem, or song lyric. If you don't have access to the book you can always use youtube to supplement. The following texts are the mentor texts used in these mini lessons:
A Light in the Attic- Shel Silverstein
There's No Place Like Space- Tish Rabe
Fables- by Arnold Lobel
How Full is Your Bucket?- Mary Reckmeyer
Alexander, Who's Not (Do you hear me? I mean it!) Going to Move-Judith Viorst
Now One Foot, Now the Other- Tomie dePaola
Honeybee- Barrie Watts
Frogs- National Geographic for Kids
Aside from these mentor texts, I used song lyrics and poems (all included) and I also used a Science Spin from scholastic as well. All files can be edited and adapted to fit the needs of your classroom and to fit any mentor text. Each mini lesson has the standard and a picture of the book used at the top to make planning and prepping easy.
