I have created a spelling program mixing different activities to help students learn new words. Each week focuses on a 'theme' for words (long and short vowels, diphthongs, prefixes, etc.). Students have a tic tac toe board to complete 3 assignments for the week and are expected to take a practice test on Thursday. Following each week, there are mini flashcards (3 sets per page). Within the zip drive, I have also included a blind sort template (students pick the categories to sort the words into) as well as a specific sorts for each week. I highly recommend using the flashcards for these sorts! As well, there is also a folder with 5 different center type activities that can be applied and used with any week of spelling words. I use this in my classroom and students have a spelling notebooks so many activities are aligned for use in notebooks. I glue the week in each week and have students complete both their homework and their classwork in the notebook that travels back and forth from home.
**Disclaimer- This is a targeted and progressively more difficult spelling creation for my 3rd grade students. I do teach an inclusion room and students on IEPs or who are classified as ELL make up over 60% of my room. For an average 3rd grade student, this spelling pack would be ok but if most of your students are advanced, they may find at least the first weeks very easy.**
