I designed these word problems for 3rd graders to give them practice and help get them ready for our state testing. They can be used with 4th graders too. We used these from day 1 of school. The students were so used to multi-step math problems, that they had no anxiety when our state tests came.
These are perfect Back-To-School questions to get your 3rd or 4th graders already practicing Multi-Step Problems.
Use it as a bell ringer, working on one problem a day. Give students about 5-10 minutes to solve the problem itself. Then, go over it together. Sometimes rearrange the order of questions, depending on the skills of your students.
They can be practiced over and over again until students feel comfortable with the skills.
