Comprehension Activity: Great questions for kids to answer as they are reading the story to be sure they are comprehending what is happening.
Vocabulary Activity: Students apply the vocabulary words for the week to their own lives by drawing, listing, and writing.
I Have Who Has Adverbs: I Have who has game for the grammar concept of the week: adverbs. Cut apart the cards and give one to each student. Have one student start. Have them read their card. The student who has the answer to the first person's card reads their card next. Keep going until you get back to the student who started. I time the kids and they try and beat their time each time we play!
Adverbs Charades: Print off the cards. Place all verbs in one basket and adverbs in another. Have students one at a time come and draw one adverb and one verb. They must act this out (ex. run slowly). Other students try to guess the adverb and verb that the student is acting out.
Adverbs Hidden Picture Activity: Students read each sentence. They underline the verb in each sentence and decide if there is an adverb present. If there is, they color the box red. If there isn't they leave it blank. The picture will show a letter of the alphabet. They then answer adverb and verb questions using that letter. Great self check activity!
