Description

3rd Grade Two-Step Word Problems BUILD A SNOWMAN BOOM Cards

Are you looking for an independent digital activity to review two-step word problems? Try Boom Cards! This Boom deck includes 24 different questions related to 3rd grade math standards.

To accommodate all students, the word problems are read aloud in the decks.

The 24 questions are divided into 2 twelve-question decks that are linked to the first page. Students select whether they want to play Deck 1 or Deck 2.

As students answer the questions, they "build" a snowman. After each correct answer, a part is added to a snowman. At the end of the deck, the snowman is complete. (Each deck has a different sandcastle.)

This purchase will give you a PDF that will lead you to the Boom Learning platform. Boom cards are cloud-based digital resources. Boom Cards play on modern browsers (released in the last three years). Free player apps are also available.

Boom cards can be used in a variety of ways:

  • In a center
  • As a game – just project the card to your class screen!
  • Use them for homework/parent engagement – ask parents have students use them on a device at home (online or with the App.)
  • As an early finisher activity.

Use multiplication and division within 100 to solve word problems in situations involving equal groups, arrays, and measurement quantities, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
Solve two-step word problems using the four operations. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
